hope for a happy medium.

i just got back from my quantity surveying exam, aaaand i dont think it went as well as planned.. i tried to prepare myself as much as i could for it, but i just have a feeling. oh well, hopefully my good marks from my midterm and assignments will make up for my final exam.

right now i am in the process of making myself a late lunch. i am trying to make a noodle salad that my dad has made for me before. i love it when he makes it, so i hope i can make it just as tasty as he does!

for the rest of the day, i am studying for my other exams, doing laundry laundry laundry, and possibly going for a run. its somewhat nice-ish, so i should probably take advantage of it.

but my noodles are waiting and i am starving!!!
one more weeek until im home!

dirty violet.

since the last time ive posted, life has been busy as usual. school is almost over for me! i have 4 days left of exams, and then i will be off to cranbrook for about 2 weeks. i havent been back home in so long, so i am really excited to just get away fom the city. i love living here, but sometimes the "rush-rush" atmosphere gets to me. i am looking forward to seeing my newly renovated house. i left in the summer, when they had just finished the flooring, but i havent seen the rest of it.

today i woke up early, and got my studying for the day out of the way. i have my quantity surveying exam on monday at 8am, so i reviewed the assignments i have done to prepare for the algrebra portion of the exam. now, i am just getting ready to head out with alex to do some browsing on bloor. its such a beautiful day outside! one of the nicer days we have had in a while (it snowed on monday).. ick. anyways, him and i havent gone shopping or purchased anything for ourselves in so long, so we are going to look around for something that catches our eye. its hard living in the city, because things are so expensive, so i always find myself worrying about money, and whether i have enough money to buy anything. other than that, him and i have a dinner date. i think we are going to sushi tonight. its my fav! (yummmers)

for the rest of the week, i plan on studying for exams and finishing up the rest of the assignments i have due.
monday: quantity surveying
tuesday: i get my mark back from my design project (im super nervous)
wednesday: my electrical installations assignment is due, and i have my mechanical
installations exam.
thursday: law exam, and steel-framing algebra exam.
friday: my drafting assignment is due.
phew.. its going to be a busy week, but i am so excited to be finished.

well, i better get ready for the day. bloor street, here i come!

under the influence.

today was a productive day for me. i was up at 5am to go for a morning run, and then back home to shower and leave for school by 630. i had class from 8-10, and then i ran errands all afternoon.

my things to do: get groceries, drop off some clothes for goodwill, bed bath and beyond for a few houseware items, the post office, and an appointment at the chinese herbal doctors office.

i think i have some sort of back problem. ever since the christmas holidays, my back has been in severe pain. i went for a training session outside and i fell when i was running, and its been hurting since then. i hope its nothing too serious.
other than that, this week is pretty low key. i had a quantity surveying assignment due this morning, and then an assignment for my elective, and a drafting exam on friday.

oh, and i am reading a new book. its called "five people you meet in heaven", and so far so good!

in the madness of things.

alright, sick again.. i've gone to the doctor and low and behold, its the flu.
march has been such a busy month for me. as of yesterday, i just finished my second round of midterms. as i thought i had a great exam schedule, it almost killed me. yiikes, stress is over taking me. other than exams this month, i have been working on my portfolio. my interview was last saturday, and all went well i think. the assessment they had us take was a bit difficult, but i guess i will find out at the end of may-ish.

today, i decided to sleep in and not go into school early. usually i try and go a couple hours before i have class to catch up on research and reading, but i was up all night coughing and having sinus issues. so it was sleepy-time for me.

tonight, i am heading down to alex's place for some cuddling, greys anatomy, and possibly a dessert waffle. yuuummmmmm!

i hope the second half of march starts looking up. i only have 5 more weeks of class left hurraaah!!!

today: no songs, any sort of noise today gives me a headache :(

hello march.

its march 1st and -17 degrees outside.. tell me that there is something wrong with that :(
anyways, today is the last day of my reading break. this upcoming week is going to be full of midterms and playing catch-up with some school work. then on saturday is my interview with the ryerson. i am slowly working away with my darn portfolio, but i am having a "creative block" at the moment. i cant seem to find a piece i want to display. i have been trying new tecniques with chalk and these cool watercolor markers i found, but nothing seems to be looking the way i want it to..
hopefully things will start working by saturday *fingers crossed*

climb every mountain.

its my reading break! YAY! well, actually its thursday, and my break more than half over ... but i am going to try and enjoy what time there is left of it!

this past weekend alex's mom came to visit us and she just left on tuesday. the three of us had a really good time together. she took us to "the sound of music" play, and it was great! i have never seen the movie before, and now i am itching to watch it. other than that, we shopped (i window-shopped), went for walks around the city, and had some yummy dinners.
it was really nice to have her here. my mother and i dont have the best relationship, so i forget what it is like to have a "motherly-figure" around.

since tuesday, i have been studying for some upcoming midterms i have next week. i have quantity surveying on monday, then elelctrical mathematics on wednesday, and structural steel framing algebra on thursday. i am pretty pleased with my midterm schedule this semester. i had 4 before the break, and 3 after! (its nicely spread out, if i do say so myself )

for the rest of my break, i am working on my university portfolio and relaxing! my interview with ryerson university is on march 7th and i am so nervous. i hope it goes well..

i feel as if i am rambling. so enough for now..

toronto is going through a wave of absolute coldness right now.
its been in the -20's without windchill for the past couple days. and i am not equipped with the proper equipment for this kind of weather. i am in dire need for some new winter clothing. too bad i have no job.. lol
i guess this weekend will be for some bargain shopping for winter wear.

winter = unnecessary cold weather, jackets, and boots

mother nature, please bring back my sandals and shorts!

this and that. plus a little more

okay. so i havent posted since the 31st of october. REALLY bad i know.. so i am going to try and write everything from the past couple months (in a condensed version.. lol)
semester 1 finally ended for me on the 19th of december, and christmas break finally arrived! i had about 3 weeks plus a few days off, and it felt great!
alex headed back to cranbrook just a couple days after school ended, and this was our first christmas apart. :(

for the first time in over ten years i didnt spend my christmas holidays in cranbrook, bc, my hometown. my parents decided to spend their holidays here in toronto with my sister and i, and the rest of my moms side of the family. during their time here the four of us were so busy visiting family after family. my mom has seven sisters, and they all have families.. so you do the math :S
my grandparents live in toronto as well, which made the holiday festivities even more fun.
oh! and how could i forget. my grandpa turned 101 over the christmas holidays!!! can you believe it??? we all celebrated his birthday with a big family dinner at his favorite chinese restaurant, and spoiled him with gifts.

here is a picture of the whole family:

after all the christmas festivities were over, my parents headed back to cranbrook on the 26th of december. which left me to do some boxing day shopping in the city! i didnt get much because the crowds were so scary, but i managed to get a few things from urban outfitters.

december 29th: ALEX COMES BACK TO TORONTO just in time to celebrate a late christmas and my birthday/new years just a couple days later.
we initially decided that since he didnt get back to toronto until late on the 29th, we would exchange gifts and such on the 30th, but i just couldnt wait.. so we ended up waking up at 2 in the morning and ripping into them. (well, 2am.. it is the 30th! kinda... ) its the 5 year old child in me :D
alex got me the books that i really wanted from mary-kate and ashley olsen, and... my very first marc by marc jacobs item! a wallet that i had my eye on for months! i was thrilled beyond belief and am taking care of it very well.
i made alex a massive stocking filled with stuff that he wanted. some xbox games, clothing, and a gift certificate to make a contribution to a new computer screen (his broke).
we did happen to take pictures of our belated christmas, but my computer crashed, and all my photos got deleted :( (we havent been having good luck with electronics..)

for my birthday/new years eve, him and i just spent the day relaxing and hanging out. in the evening, he took me out for dinner at auerge du pommier, and then we went out for drinks with a few friends. just in time for the stroke of midnight, we headed back home to ring in the new year with my sister and her fiancee. then the four of us had a blast together playing the wii.

pheww.. almost all caught up.
last wednesday i started the new semester. im not too thrilled with my schedule because i somehow ended up with a 5 day school week again, but the hours wont be too bad once spring comes and its a bit warmer out.
this semester i have 7 classes: studio design/theory 2005, quantity surveying 1043, law reqs 2022, mechanical/electrical 2046, steel-frame design 2034, cade 3001, and my elective, personal finance 1027.
its a stressful semester again, but hopefully ill make it!

okay. all caught up.. i am going to try and do my best to keep up with posting this year. its one of my new years resolutions!

happy new year everyone!
